Returning to the cyber-airwaves for the first time after a couple weeks off -- and starting on time for the first time in who knows how long -- RF3D had a helluva time today. Producer Kender MacGowan (of Young Gun Conservative and The Humor Institute fame) admirably steered the RF3D Three (Daniel, Floyd and Eric) through conversations with comedian, author and NFL guru Eric Golub, and WWII veteran and documentary filmmaker George Ciampa.
General riff-raff yappin' this week included Jerry Brown's debate challenge to alleged Republicans (and apparently the best the GOP can muster in the race for CA governor) Meg Whitman and Steve Poizner; the guys lamenting pathetically overbearing Little League parents sucking all the fun out the game for their kids (great insight from Floyd on this topic, too); Daniel updating us new goings-on at the American Culture; and Eric gushing about the new Peter Wolf album.
Please visit today's guests' respective sites at www.tygrrrrexpress.com (Eric Golub), and www.letfreedomringforall.org (George Ciampa).
Red, white and blue all over, easily the most patriotic-themed show in RF3D's short existence (have we really been doing this for a year now???). Technical difficulties aboun-- eh, you already know about that, wouldn't be a show without tech glitches. Fortunately, none during our guests' respective times on the air (more or less), and nice to know that in addition to promoting the right formulas and positive mindset to getting the US of A back to greatness, Rep. McCotter's totally on board with putting the J. Geils Band in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
It figures on the first day a Porvaznik-produced show, that actually had all show prep done a half-hour before 2:00 PM, and even started on time, all technical hell would subsequently break loose. Microphone issues, a call-in number inexplicably and unknowingly disconnected (yet, go figure, still accessible via Skype), internet disconnections halfway through the show due to a hacked email password (yes, the bill's been paid).
However, through it all, we hobbled together a near-two hour show and proudly present RF3D #2.10 (please don't ask where #2.9 with Congressional candidate Frank Ryan went). Daniel and Eric; Eric, Daniel and Floyd; all of the above and RF3D's first call-in guest Stephanie Janiczek with Happy Valley's legendary Coach JoePa; everybody and John Romano and then just Daniel, Eric and John. In addition to Wal-Mart, Tom Hanks, and Drew Carey on allegedly doomed Hollywood conservatives, three guesses what else was on our minds Sunday.
Oh, we also ask that all Catholic, albino, cross-eyed, web-toed, mono-browed, long-nailed Radio Free Threedonia listeners please turn off their computers and leave the room. We don't serve your kind here. Sorry, Rufus.
While Floyd tended to a gout-stricken foot -- get well soon, Mr. Turbo -- the RF3D team soldiered on, welcoming guest Christian Toto to the fun. Naturally, he shares his Oscars picks and since he was kind enough to stick around for a few extra minutes, we ragged on Hollywood's obsession with re-makes, Scorsese's strange dedication to Leo, and endured Porvaznik's love affair with Eddie and the Cruisers. Brandon May, aka "Veruckt," stopped in for a quick interview/primer on his healthcare tour de force coming on this coming weekend's show.
Additionally, John FN made a strong return to the show before mysteriously disappearing (???), while Daniel Crandall successfully completed his RF3D residency. Rufus, please give Daniel the key to the liquor cabinet. Daniel, please stock it.
Quicker than Rich ... knows how to slap down an uneducated global warming alarmist, we at RF3D proudly bring you our conversations. Actor and producer Stelio Savante gives us the scoop on and the importance of the LA premiere of 110 Stories, now also featuring D.B. Sweeney, and even brings along Bolivar Arellano, whom Stelio portrays in the play ... Semi-fresh off the plane from Washington D.C., Big Hollywood/Government/Journalism's Larry O'Connor, aka King of the Take-downs (no offense to Andrew Breitbart, the premiere part of the 1-2 punch, but Larry's the one who ultimately got Max Blumenthal to admit he called James O'Keefe a racist), shares more stories from the CPAC front ... Though I got the initial impression he called in only to mention Rush as Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, Daniel Crandall continues his residency at RF3D, sitting in for most of the show as well.
For those who cannot make it to the performance of 110 Stories tonight, please note you can still make donations to the Red Cross and help the play. Just mention 110 storieswhen calling to donate.
National Review Online's Editor-at-Large extraordinaire paid an early morning visit to RF3D (at least early by Eric and Floyd's 6 AM Pacific Time standards) and almost 50 minutes later, also agreed to come back in the future to chat with us some more. Not-so-wonderful Copenhagen, conservative reticence to actually get in the ring in the never-ending fight, liberal lunacy, and Chicago-land bars: all apparently part of a morning with Radio Free Threedonia. In the words of Floyd, "Sweet!"
Taking aim at Mr. Terrorist, political correctness and pretty much anyone who doesn't love and respect the USA, comedian Bo "Bald Eagle" Clark tells it straight-up as he recounts some of the high- (and low) lights from the first round leg of his All American Comedy tour.
OK, so it took about 30 minutes of starts and stops and more silence than anything, but such is apparently the way of the world when making the switch to live online radio.
However, Eric, Floyd and Rich anchored this week's show, and the following 90 minutes rolled along fairly smoothly. With huge thanks to station founder/producer Arthur Conley (as well as Young Gun Conservative's Nick Polyzos for the tech assists Sunday), we at Team RF3D cannot be happier to now be affiliated with Right Talk Radio!!! Special thanks go out to our first guests, too: filmmaker Christian Hartsock and actor/musician/arteest Michael Broderick (please also check out Michael's project Rethinking Autism -- http://www.rethinkingautism.com/). With the kind permission of Movieguide.org's Dr. Ted Baehr, Radio Free Threedonia also now features reviews from Dr. Baehr himself, this week spotlighting Brothers. Additional appreciation to friend and Texas rocker Timothy Mank, whose songs scatter the landscape of RF3D #2.1.
Alright, had it with the love fest? Click on Part 1 of 4 below, then 2-4. That's right, folks, we're on for two hours now. Well, almost two hours, but still four segments.
Coming up this weekend, December 20th, scheduled guests include Jonah Goldberg, Queensryche's Geoff Tate, and comedian Bo "Bald Eagle" Clark. We'll also be able to take your calls, not to mention we'll have a live-blog going on at Threedonia.
